I would like to upgrade my 5-year old Gateway E-3600 but I don't know if the equipment that I have selected will be compatible.  All that Gateway has told me is that unless I buy it from them (at what I feel are very high prices) they can't tell me if it's going to work or not.

Is there a source of information out there that I can use to make sure I don't buy things that won't work for me?
