Some computers will tell you the speed of the cpu if you go into the cmos
(usually by hitting the del key or whatever key the system tells you to hit
to enter setup.  Otherwise, you can watch your computer as it boots up.
Usually it will scan the memory first and then go through the hard drives.
The speed of the cpu will flash onto your screen afterwards before the win98
logo screen comes up.  If you hit the esc during the logo screen, you can
usually see what is going on in the background and you may see the cpu speed
there.
