I had a similar problem a couple of years ago.  Turned out it was a virus.
Scan your system to see if that's the problem.

Today when using Printmaster, I needed to access the DVD for a file, but was
unable to get the program to recognize the DVD in the drive.
I opened Windows Explorer and both the CD-Rom and DVD-drive were not listed.
Both were gone.
