<<<<< The computer runs normally, but for the last couple of weeks I am not able to run DEFRAG nor look at the device manager>>>

Hi,

normally one has problems with defragging because of too many bakground programs interrupting the process and the solution is to shut off all or most background programs.

but in your case " last couple of weeks", "nor look at the device manager"

makes me think some event (downloads/ virus??) could be the cause.

so i would suggest you do a system restore to a date say 20/25 days prior to the emergence of this problem. to access system restore click "help and support" and in the resulting window click on "undo changes to your computer with system restore " and follow the instructions.

HTH and good luck---Venkat
