My old Idek Iiyama MF-5015A was like that. It didn't have different
memory settings for the various display modes, just one Master set of
controls on the outside. What it did have, however, were individual
controls inside that I adjusted to get a centered display during bootup
and again after Win95 was fully loaded. They use totally different
screen modes, so different controls were used to adjust each mode. Once
adjusted like that, the external (master) control functioned as you'd
expect it to, i.e., it adjusted the screen size and position no matter
which mode I was currently in. Your monitor may be similar in design.
