I switched my BIOS to boot from CD (Windows XP) first and then HD
second....when I rebooted it skipped past the two normal prompts/messages to
boot from CD and probably booted straight up from the HD...basically
behaving like there's either no CD ROM at all, or, it could not find a
bootable disk.

The BIOS still correctly identified the device and it still shows up, but,
still says there's no disk in it.
