A customer brought me his computer, (a NEC Ready 9617 with onboard
video + sound) and a new Powercom, PCI modem that he bought at a
show.
I removed the old modem, re-booted and removed the old modem in
control panel, shut down and inserted the new modem. With the
Powercom modem in place, the computer won't even boot. The power
comes on, but the process stops just short of sending a signal to
the monitor. It's the same with both PCI slots.
What would be causing this? Can I be sure it is the modem and
not the PCI slots?
