The last few burners I put in recommended that you put the burner on IDE 1
with the Hard drive, Hard drive as Master and Burner as slave. Put Cd Rom as
master on IDE2. As far as uninstalling CD Easy Creator this is what I
received from Roxio::::

Goto C:\Program Files and delete the Adaptec folder if there
Goto C:\Program Files\Common Files and delete the Adaptec shared folder if
there

Search for files and folders with the name "cdr*"
Delete any of the following files if found

Cdral.dll
Cdrtc.dll
Cdr4_2k.sys
Cdralw2k.sys

Go into the registry (click start, run, type regedit, hit ok)

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and delete the Adaptec folder if there
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and delete the Adaptec folder if there

go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Currentcontrolset\Control\Class and
highlight the folder that starts {4D36E965-E325.} and delete the
upperfilters and lowerfilters from the right pane.

Exit from the registry, reboot your computer

I would have thought formating and reinstalling would have satisfied all of
that.

The last update for ECDC helped with a lot of Burner compatabilitys but if
you are on ME I don't think I would take any updates. To many people say it
use to work and it don't after the update. I am on XP so I had to update and
am on Ver 5.03 and I beleive there is another one out.

My brother updated his Windows Media Player to 7.0 and that send his ECDC 5
Platium into a spin , his burner would not work. He uninstall WMP and ECDC 5
and reinstalled ECDC 5 with the updates and it was fine again.

Subject: [PCBUILD] cd burner

> I am not sure what is happening with this cd burner. I have not used it as
a burner for a while so when i wanted to install the burning software i was
having problems getting it to open. I have Easy cd creator 4 and 5. i like
to use 5 so that is what i tried first. It went in fine and install the
update before using like i have always done. And the program locked up. So i
tried to uninstall it and try easy cd creator 4 which came with the burner
and i just got a blue screen and the computer shut off. Now the burner wont
even read any cd's. The bios detects it and windows ME detects it but when
you put in a cd-rom of any type it just does nothing. It is an iomega cd rom
and has always worked when needed. i have tryed removing it from the device
manager and letting it refind it with no luck i have even reformated and
reinstalled windows Me to try and fix it. Durring the insta
> lation i had to swich the drive cables with the dvd rom in it to install
because dos would not see any cd's in it and the dvd rom worked find on the
ide port. But the burner is still not working. hope you can help me out with
this. Also under windows when you right click on the drive it will eject it.
When a cd is put in the drive the light will blink a couple of times and
then go out (normally it stays lit with a cd in it.
