USB adapter only for Logitech

I have two adapters--techcraft AUSB-PS/2-M-ML.. they are supose to be used to connect a USB mouse into a pc ps/2 port. However I have tried with some mice and Windows Xp reports error in the USB system.  The "only" fact is that the adapters are intended for "logitech only" 
What of special does a logitech mouse have?
I remember in Windos 3.11 you had to select what kind of mouse you had, logitech was one in the list.
The same thing happened to some others people who got those adapters and now face the same situation.
Any help?
