Will I be correct in assuming that the jumper connection shown in the photo
(the jumper connected to two adjacent pins "horizantally")is specific to the "Maxtor diamond max plus " as stated in the caption?

the reason for my query is that in all hdd/cd-rw/cdrom/ I have seen the jumper has to be connected to two adjacent pins "vertically". the oldest i have seen is my own 6 year old "quatum fireball" 4 gig.
