William,  Basically, busmastering means that the MPU
is relieved of handling the chore of transfering data.
In this way the chipset and the PCI card work in
harmony without requiring the processor to stop what
it is doing at any given moment and transfer this data
on the PCI Bus. HTH,  Ted
