hp 600c printer flashes power light, no print.

The printer power light flashes and the inkjet cartridge stays in the
middle of the printer. Does not seem to go to the right side after placing
an inkjet cartridge in it, although it does move to right but comes right
back to the  center position.

Tried two different cartridges with same results.

Does this mean a bad connection? The printer fails to print even a test
page.
