Susan,

50% is kind of low, you should take steps to boost it, but it is nothing
to get alarmed about.   There have been times when my system (128Meg of
RAM) has been down to 26-28% and still ran -- verrry slllooowwwwlly -- but
functional.

How much RAM does your system have now?  IMHO, 64Meg is sufficient for a
typical system.  Depending on the work you do (applications you use), you
__might__ need more.

Close all application programs and then do CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the
task manager
and tell us (the list -- not me only <g>) what is still running.
