Hmm I don't know I have a system here that defies all odds I guess. It has
1 4.2G IDE 1 9.1G IDE 1 1.0 G SCSI drive 1 Yamaha SCSI CDRW and a Plextore
SCSI CD and it all works fine together. I use the SCSI HDD to burn CDs
from. I am running an old Adaptec 2940 card. I think allot of it depends on
system board and BIOS. I am running 98 as the OS here. I could see where
you might run into problems under NT altho I have seen several NT systems
that are running SCSI CDs with no problems either. There are allot of
possible combinations now with current BIOSs and if your going to run the
IDE as the boot drive then you need to make sure that the SCSI doesn't set
the drive as type 80 (boot) I have also set a system to use SCSI HDD then
got an IDE drive and swapped the IDE to the boot drive. One of the biggest
mysteries of SCSI is proper termination. bad or non termination can
manifest its self in some very strange ways. So the answer is yes it can
be done.
