HI

1) In the intel 865 chipset, memory should be done in pairs for fastest
performance.

If you want 512 use 2-256. if you want 1gig uses 2-512, that will
enable the dual channel memory option

2) Also the 2.5 is a 533 bus chip I believe and the use of the 400 speed
memory is overkill, unless you plan to upgrade to an 800 bus chip down
the road. The CPU can only give a 5.4 bandwidth and not the 6.4 an 800
bus speed processor can.

Thanks and have a Great Day!

================================

I have a question on the correct speed for DDR400.

 I just installed a new mobo, Intel D865GBF with a P4 2.5 processor and
512 of DDR400 memory (PC3200).

The BIOS says the mobo FSB is 4x100=400 HZ data rate and the memory is
2x166MHz = 332 data rate.

The start up screen says: DDR266 operating in single-channel dynamic
paging mode.

SANDRA tested the memory at 1984 MB/s

Does this sound like I have the correct speed for the memory?

What does the start-up screen mean?
