I don't understand why you would need another controller. A SATA controller
will often have RAID capability, but that does not mean you have to use it.
It can also be used as a single drive controller. There should be no reason
for you to get a second controller card, nor should you need a second drive
unless you want to implement a RAID configuration. Note that there are
several RAID configurations to choose from if you decide to do that.

Note that you would need to designate the new controller as your boot
device.

thank you for your reply. I had a friend ck the system out and he said this
unit had two hard drives and dell would not allow him to shut down the
second hard drive.. he said i need another hard drive and controller card,
and with this i will have a dual unit. so i guess i'll have to buy a second
hard drive and controller card! ??????  ronn cross
