Packard Bell, Evergreen MxPro 200, Win95a

I've had problems with my computer, when it starts up.  The first
indication is when the system reaches the Desktop screen.  Usually, the
cursor is frozen.  I can't do anything to unfreeze the system.  I then
push the Reset button.  The screen goes black/blank and nothing is
happening.  I push the Reset button again.  This time part of Dos screen
appears, but it doesn't finish the startup mode.  I push Reset again
with a black screen showing up.  I turn off the computer, wait and turn
it back on.  It gets to the Desktop screen, but the cursor is frozen.

The first time this happened.  I spent an hour and half trying to get my
system running.  Today, when this happened, I spent about 15 minutes.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this problem--short
of kicking the computer or tearing out my hair.
