PC2700 is faster than PC2100, but isn't worth any price if your mobo won't support it. You need to read your mobo's manual or go to the mfg. web site to see what the mobo will support. If you currently are running PC2100, and your mobo does support PC2700, unless you replace all your memory with PC2700, it will all run at the speed of the slowest, which would be the case if you are only adding some memory to already existing PC2100 (it would not be worth buying the PC2700 to add memory to a bunch of PC2100). I can't really say that buying all new PC2700 memory is really going to noticeably increase the speed of anything. All the programs you describe run adequately on PC133, and there is no way to predict that PC2100, PC2700, Rambus, DDR will be the standard of the future with new mobos now supporting 533 FSB,

>I'm trying to learn something about memory and also what memory to buy.I'm comparing type PC2100 to type PC2700. I have not seen any information on what the difference is between the two. However, there is a big price difference.
>I'm wondering if it is worthwhile buying the more expensive one. One reason being is that you don't know what the future will bring.
>Thank you in advance for any info and opinions.
