This may not appeal to you for any number of reasons, but I faced the
same decision some time back.  Like you, I found conflicting
informaiton, so decided to play it safe.  I bought a SCSI CDR/W with
the 'enclosed' Adaptec PCI/SCSI card.  Works beautifully! No conflicts
