The original thread starter, who like all thread starters on the Internet,
has
vanished :-), wanted help on being paleo while still adhering to the dietary
 proscriptions of his religion. >>
I believe I have been misquoted here, and certainly I have been
misunderstood.
I have not disappeared, just did not want to become embroiled in a
debate which has so little to do with the question I asked. And, I have sent
personal questions and remarks to some of the people here.
In no way do I wish to impose my world view, politics, religion, or
spiritual and physical quest onto another or group or time or place or entity
or entities or deity or deities of choice or denial, or interest or
disinterest.
I erroneously thought that I was asking a dietary question, and not a
religious question.

My question was, and remains,: "How may I add more protein to my diet
without eating meat?" Because I did not want to get into a debate about why I
would ask such a question, I mentioned (silly me!!) that this is because of
religious reasons. (Actually, I have many reasons, of which
religion/spiritual questing is one.) :-)
All living things of which we are empirically aware require fuel.
That fuel must come from somewhere, somehow. Some animals provide fuel to
other animals, and nearly always to microbes and eventually plants. I have
no issue with how anyone or anything else obtains their fuel, provided it is
not thru cannibalistic murder, mutilation, torture, etc. common sense
stuff. I also expect that animals raised for food will be raised and treated
with respect in an environment that is conducive to their well being, and
will be slaughtered as quickly and as pain free as possible.

I also did not see that my question was all that off topic for a
forum dedicated to the idea of health and nutrition. I am mystified at the
number of posting that have ensued--most of it concerning religion--and very
little regarding an answer to my question. A few people did answer my
question, and thank you, I truly do appreciate that. If anyone else would
care to address that answer in dietary terms, I would be pleased.

Thanks,

live long and prosper,

Rod
