What's up with green beans? The reasoning against beans in the
Neanderthin book is that they can't be gathered and eaten without
technology (cooking) so they are taboo.

But my wife, who grew up on a farm, tells me she used to pick and
eat green beans right from the vine. So either they're not toxic
when eaten raw or my wife has finally been explained! (It's a
good thing she doesn't read this list)

What's the deal then?
