Who ever you decide to see it would be good to bring your running shoes.
I'm a massage therapist and seeing the shoes can provide good clues for
treatment.  You can also try soaking it in epsom salts, 1/2 cup or so in a
bucket of hot water.

I'd also try cold/heat/alternating.  If it's actively or sharply hurting
you may want cold.  If not, heat may do it.  I think though that you will
probably get the most relief from alternating the two.  Start with either,
2-3 minutes on whichever then switch.  End with heat.

Try massaging your feet.  Spreading the bones in the foot may well relieve
the pain if the nerve is getting compressed.

Many times foot problems come down from the knees.  You can rest your hands
on your knee and gently move it around, looking for positions that feel
better holding them until you feel it's time to move on.  You may well find
that helping your knees feel good, will help the foot as well.
