<<Weight control is one of the best coping mechanisms for diabetes. If you
are overweight and can't lose weight on Neanderthin or The Zone then
another weight loss program would be good.>>

I have to disagree with this statement. It seems to suggest that the cause
of diabetes is being overweight. Instead, the cause of diabetes is a
malfunctioning pancreas (whether from an overabundance of carbs or as a
genetic weakness) that responds differently to carbohydrates than what would
be considered a 'normal' pancreas. This altered response causes people to
gain weight by causing the body to convert carbohydrates to fat and store
it. By radically reducing carbs and type of carbs, this dysfunctional
metabolic response is greatly reduced or eliminated resulting in the body
storing less useless fat ( from carbs).

I would have to say that one of the best coping mechanisms for weight
control is controlling diabetic or hypoglycemic tendencies through proper
nutrition.
