Evolution and Christianity are not mutually exclusive. Most scientists
in the western world have no problem believing in both. In the past you
were suppose to believe that, according to the Bible, the Earth was the
center of the universe. Now, most people have no problem interpreting
the Bible to fit the knowledge that the Earth rovolves around the sun.
In the future, most people will have no problem interpreting the Bible
to fit what is known about evolutionary biology. I talked to a minister
recently - he said that the Bible tells us why God did it, and science
tells us how he did it. The Bible gives us no deltails on how, exactly,
God created everything; it just says he did it. The Pope has no
problem with interpreting the Bible to fit what is known about
evolutionary biology. The two are not mutually exclusive.
