As far as I know, that is still a pretty hotly debated subject within
the paleo-anthropology community...whether Neanderthal interbred with
cro-magnon man...or whether Neanderthal died off (or was killed off).

If you buy the DNA testing they've done...there's no link between the two.

However...much other evidence and experts argue that Neanderthal is part
of the lineage of modern homo sapiens.

Given my prominent occipital bun (bump on the back of my head)...and the
very pronounced occipital bun of Neanderthal man. I'm in the "we're
neanderthals" camp :)

Check the back of your head and see how much neanderthal you have in you
