Last night I dashed off an inquiry about the fish oil caps I take.  Here's
the reply I received this morning.  Notice my question about how the oil is
extracted went unanswered.  I'll re-query on the extraction process.

Pure Encapsulations EPA/DHA Essentials is a micro-filtered, ultra-pure fish
oil and it has been tested for heavy metals and other
contaminants. It is sourced from sardines from the Pacific Ocean off of the
coast of Chile.

Mg/kg and parts per million are the same value. A typical technical data
sheet may indicate the following:

Specification / Actual Analysis
cadmium 0.1 mg/kg / 0.01 mg/kg
mercury 0.1 mg/kg / 0.005 mg/kg
lead 0.1 mg/kg / 0.05 mg/kg

The specification limits (the left column) are established by California
Prop 65 as Maximum Allowable Daily Levels ( MADL ) and the analysis of the
fish oil (right column) shows the typical results of this product, well
below the MADL. Same for the following:

Specification / Actual Analysis

DDT 0.05 mg/kg / 0.01 mg/kg
DDE 0.05 mg/kg / 0.005 mg/kg
HCB 0.05 mg/k g / 0.005 mg/kg
PCB 0.5 mg/kg / 0.04 mg/kg
