Haven't read all the messages so don't know if anyone's responded to this,
but a great site's to learn more about lauric acid, etc. is www.lauric.org;
www.westonaprice.org and   http://coconut-info.com. As you've probably
surmised a great source of lauric and myristic acids is coconut. Best source
other than mother's milk on the planet. I wrote a little paper on it's
marvelous properties a couple years ago -- can send it to you if you want.
Besides lauric acid's beneficial effects on HDL, etc. it is also more likely
to be burned for energy rather than stored (goes directly through portal vein
and doesn't need the carnitine pathway) and is absolutely astonishing as an
antimicrobial, anti viral, etc. Also have a larger paper by Mary Enig on it's
incredible properties somewhere. A fellow named Dr. Jon Karbara has been
doing the bench work on coconut oil and its active deriviative since the 60s.
They are even using the stuff to combat HIV.

Namaste, Liz
