Uric acid stones are not formed from calcium.  Uric acid is produced when
the body breaks down protein.  The build up of excessive uric acid takes
place in the joints in the form of gout, and in the kidneys in the form of
uric acid stones.  A common suggestion is to decrease meat consumption.  I
wonder, however, if it would be beneficial to decrease the consumption of
acid forming foods such as dried beans, cheese and pasteurized milk
products, grains, coffee, soft drinks, chocolate
s and most nuts.  Amadeus
