Alison, I "had" similar problems......but no more........
Before I began eating Paleo, I would go all day without eating,
then eat dinner, and I couldn't seem to stop eating all evening.

Now, for breakfast, I eat a piece of whatever meat I cooked last
night and salad. For lunch, I have more salad and tuna, sardines,
more leftover meat, or eggs. For dinner, it's salad again, another
vegetable (usually steamed), 1/3 cup of rice or a very small
potato (sometimes yam), and all the meat I want. If I want a
snack, I just have a cucumber and some more meat. But I
don't get hungry between meals and I am not tormented
by cravings anymore.

No wheat at all......a couple of weeks ago I had half....just
half....of a slice of bread........and had hives for three days.
I think this proves I'm allergic to wheat.....the little bit of
rice I eat doesn't do this. I also eat watermelon, cantaloupe,
and the fruit that grows in my yard (peach, pears, guavas).
No other sugar.........and I've quit using artificial sweeteners.
No diet sodas, for instance. Such things taste too sweet
for me. I do like the tartness of cranberries, but they are
not a locally grown item.....I live in Florida. Apples make
me burp......bananas taste like something spoiled now.
When my banana trees bear fruit, I'm going to try some
of it......maybe it won't taste spoiled if I eat it in its own
season. My father has diabetes, and I cut out sugar
long ago......I don't want to overwork my pancreas.

Oatmeal doesn't give me hives either. I know......not
Paleo.....but I'm trying to incorporate some of the foods
my ancestors in Ireland used........I don't remember who
wrote the book I read about the foods our ancestors
ate....anyway he recommended people eat those foods....
as bananas weren't native to England and Ireland, I
probably should not try to eat them......

Whatever........I no longer have overwhelming cravings,
I no longer have that lethargic urge to sleep I used to
feel after eating bread, I have fewer allergy attacks,
and my Rheumatoid arthritis has been very quiet
lately........I'm happy with Paleo!
