"Colon cleansing" is off-topic because it is not something that there is
any evidence that prehistoric peoples did. One thing that they did do was
get more exercise than we do, and since we can't really go around dragging
large dead animals around, the closest thing is weight training. Although,
I do agree, that in-depth discussion of weight training issues with an eye
toward bodybuilding is not paleo either. Curing ills (I assume you are
referring to the autism issue) is a matter of a person using a paleo diet
to mitigate an affliction. While it is a very specific case and does not
apply to the group in general, I see it as being in line with the concept
of Neanderthin, which to me is using paleo diet as a means of returing the
body to it's rightful condition. As far as hunting is concerned, again,
in-depth discussion of hunting with a lean towards anything but procuring
game meat would probably be outside of "paleo" as well. However, one
important concept here is the attempt to get foods which are as close to
the natural foods our forebears ate as possible, and game meats are
probably much more so than anything stamped USDA.

As I was corrected by Todd earlier, the list is not restricted to
Neaderthin, but is meant to encompass paleo diet/lifestyle in general.
It's not limited to strictly the eating part of it (I think). But the
focus has generally been returning yourself "metabolically" to as close to
our primitive ancestors as is possible in modern civilization, and doing so
through means that would have been available to them.

Take care,
John Pavao

Speaking of off topic for the list... (Sorry, I don't mean to be picking
on you today John. Your lmails are just easier to respond to.) A lot of
what is discussed here seems off-topic to me, weight training for
example. I've seen the charter-thing, but what is this list about
anyway? Is this a bible-study-type list where everything in NeanderThin
is on topic and otherwise is not?

I think your point here is that colon cleaning is off-topic since it's
not about food.? But weight training as I've said is not about food
either. Curing ills is not about food either. Anything that's not about
helping you eat paleo, would be off-topic, including non-instructional
hunting lmails.
