My osteo-arthritis has never been this bad. It seems as if the hot, humid
summer here has taken its toll and I've been in a lot of pain. BTW, I know
the weather is a factor because when the humidity drops and high pressure
comes in it gets much better and then worsens as the humidity goes back up.

Anyway, while I admit that it is difficult for me to follow a strictly
paleo diet, I eat primarily meat, eggs, fruit, nuts, and paleo veggies
although I am known to cheat on occasion. I gave up dairy totally for the
arthritis but it hasn't seemed to make a difference.

The arthritis is in my knees, the left one being the really bad one. As
for exercise, about the only thing I can do is walk and I can't do that all
the time and I definitely can't do stairs. I am trying to keep as mobile as
possible. I use ice and Aleve for the pain and crutches when I have to.

I take glucosamine chondroitan daily and have been taking arginine and
other amino acids to help build muscle, since I can't exercise much. I
also need to lose a few pounds. I'm sure that would help the arthritis.

I believe the arthritis is a result of destroying my cartilage by running
too many laps around the track back in the old days and my doctor
has pretty much confirmed that. Speaking of doctors, they aren't much
help and basically just tell me to take glucosamine. Moving to a dry
climate is a good idea, but that isn't possible at this time, although it's
on my list of things to do in 5 years.

I would appreciate any advice. I have been told all kinds of things by
well-meaning friends but don't know what to believe any more. One person
told me to give up tomatoes. I haven't tried that yet because it doesn't
make any sense to me, but I am getting desperate. And the constant pain is
getting to me. I'm having trouble continuing to be the happy-go-lucky
person I always was.
