I agree all this information can be very confusing. But you
encapsulate the diet perfectly in the line 'eat lots of lean meat,
fruit, vegetables, and nuts'. I think that by doing this instead of
eating junk we are gaining probably about 95 per cent of the benefits
to be had from this way of life. The fruit/tubers/etc. discussions are
for those interested in fine-tuning the diet to get the extra 5 per
cent. It's also important to remember that each of us varies e.g. in
what foods we like and dislike and how our bodies react to those
foods. So my advice is try to listen to your body, find out what works for
you and don't worry about the really esoteric stuff!
