Folic acid is found in green leafy vegetables (FOLIage is where the name
comes form, fruits, fruit juice, root vegetables), liver, kidney, nuts.
Non-paleo sources= beans, yeast, oats, bran, lentils. Paleo diets have much
higher levels than non-paleo diets as non-paleo diets are full of "empty
calories" (low vitamin foods). This was previously shown by a post from
someone who was worried his (treated coeliac) son had the highest levels of
folic acid and B12.

Folic acid can be measured in a blood test: serum folic acid indicates your
intake over the last few days, redcell folic acid indicates the intake over
the last couple of months. Folic acid is water-soluble and not stored for
use. It is however trapped inside red blood cells where it is used for a
particular reason.

Folic acid deficiency is a marker for lousy diets or malabsorption. Normal
folic acid levels DO NOT prove that you have a good diet or don't have
malabsorption (eg coeliac disease).

Folic acid is every bit as important as Vitamin C.

Eat a healthy diet, don't take supplements
