Mary, thanks for your response. It looks as though I am doing about the same as
you. I live just up the 80 from you--in El Cerrito, north of Berkeley. I shop
at Whole Foods now and again, although it's difficult to navigate, and I've also
started shopping at a Ranch Market close to my neighborhood--they've got great
fish, do they not!?

I've just started the paleo diet, and finding good tasting (and non grain) beef
will be a priority for me. I recall one participant recommending Wild Oats,
which is also in Berkeley, as having NZ pastured beef.

thanks again, you're fortunate to have local hunters offer you some of their
spoils.

take care, Nita

Dear Nita,

I live in San Jose. I shop at the Whole Foods market. I am also dependent,
very dependent, on the kindness of local hunters for wild boar, deer and
elk meat for my son. For organ meat I go to an Asian Market called Ranch
99 in Cupertino. There I buy pig hearts, quail eggs, etc. For buffalo liver
and buffalo meat I go to Durham Meats in San Jose. Hope this helps. BTW,
when you are at Whole Foods, please request grass fed meat. At the Los Gatos
Whole Foods, only their lamb is grass fed, it comes from NZ..... all the
rest of their meat is "organic" but grain fed. I have not found a source of
grass fed beef or pork.

Hope this helps.

Mary
