Paleo people were probably not sedentary enough to have some place
to store the berries. I thing they were mainly eaten directly from
the bush.

Yes, but they will probably stick to the wire mesh. And it will be
a much slower process than drying meat.
I sometimes dehydrate blueberries (much smaller on this side of
the Atlntic). It is very handy to eat bwhen hiking in non blueberry
season.
