I probably wouldn:t be on this list if it weren:t for my cats. They
convinced me of a raw fresh diet.

Raw ground whole chicken, including bones, heart, liver, gizzard...that is
the only way to go. Makes my cats the most beautiful coat I:ve ever seen.
And I know they feel healthy on the inside, too, they are so active and
playful and soft with bright eyes. They get complements all the time, as
they clearly look different than even premium kibble fed cats--and they are
just X strays.

Grains make them sick. A little cooked mashed pumpkin mixed in they like.
Raw grated carrot they tolerate. I have researched high and low about this,
and most pet specialists with no interest in proceeds from sales of pet food
manufactureres say never free feed--cats need acidity in their stomaches.
Just the smell of food makes their stomach more alkaline. Alkalinity is
correlated with FUS.

Dry food has no water content. Cats must get their water from foood. So,
even canned would be better. But they are evolved from the desert. Even
their tongues curl the wrong way for drinking water. They are just not
equipped. Dry food is highly correlated with kidney disease and FUS.

There is no evidence of any dry food helping cats teeth. Only bones or a
cleaning will do that. It:s like saying if we eat crackers all day we will
have good teeth!

There are tons of preservatives in manufactured foods. Many of these are
toxic for cats. Even in small amounts, as they are kind of small you know.
Pet manufacturers use tons of preservatives to keep over-cooked and
dehydrated meat that was diseased.

I have an extremely sick cat who was told 3 years ago he would be dead
(liver disease, kidney failure, and IBD) soon. Only this diet has helped.
He:s not even on meds. He is really beautiful. A raw diet will save you
tons of money from vet bills in the long run.

I subscribe to holisticat listserve. I could talk about this stuff for
hours, and have. My cats are living proof of the benefits of a raw, fresh
diet. I am following in their footsteps.
