There is no reason to assume the "original" cavemen
extracted oil from olives. Animal fat would have
sufficed. However, "later" primitive people may have
used it for some cooking or food processing. My
understanding is that the oil can be extracted simply
by squeezing the olives inside somthing like a
cheesecloth.

After reading some of your questions it seems like you
may be mixing the paleo diet up with other higher fat
diets (e.g.-Atkins, etc.) Is this a correct assumption?
