Don't go off the diet. Seriously, find a diet you can stick to for your
lifetime -- one that is fundamentally contributing to your health. For
me this is my version of paleo eating, and it can be low carb or at
least reduced carb. I have built 17 or so pounds of muscle over the last
year or so on this diet, with some but not much additional body fat.

I can tell because I still have the same waist size as I did, but I
gained about 20 pounds and have much more muscle. I work out only about
once a week or less, with progressive poundages and an abbreviated workout.
