Thanks to everyone who answered my query concerning migraines --- is
this a terrific support group or what?

Holly, it's great that your BP medication alleviated your migraines ---
lucky you!. But I'm always low-normal blood pressure (all my life, even
when 9.5 months pregnant) --- I don't think it's a factor for me.

William, it's reassuring to learn that your migraines disappeared with
the cereal grains --- perhaps I'm still flushing them out of my system
(she said hopefully).

Maddy, great ideas re: the excitotoxins. I'm familiar with the amines
as a factor, and for years have avoided all the common triggers (red
wine, chocolate, cheeses), but I should probably be more scrupulous in
avoiding canned salmon (love it!) and hidden MSG. (I've always had
diarrhea and wicked headaches from MSG-laden restaurant foods.) Thanks
for reminding me to keep my paleo diet as "clean" as possible --- I'll
try this approach right away (I'm entering my "migraine cycle" even as I
write).

Tom --- glad to learn that paleo-type eating is giving you some relief,
and thanks for all the great migraine tips. If I catch my headaches
early, Excedrin Migraine (aspirin, acetominaphen and caffeine) will
knock them out, but I just hate to take the stuff if I can avoid it (bad
for the liver, and the caffeine keeps me up all night). It's funny you
should mention the lawn mowing experience --- I've had the same
results! Weird, eh?

Ginny, those headaches sound a *lot* like migraines (just like mine, in
fact!). Do you have a stabbing pain behind one of your eyes? Do they
usually affect one side of your head, but not the other? These are
characteristic of migraines, which are notoriously difficult to
control. One of the key factors seems to be instability in your
serotonin levels --- any conditions that keep your serotonin levels
evenly correct (exercise, rest, meditation, the right foods, stable
blood glucose, stable hormones, etc.) will help alleviate migraines.

Thanks again for all the good ideas --- you guys are great!

Pat
