I would actually agree on the corn oil thing, based on my own experiences.

I can tolerate carbs very well. Corn tortillas, rice, sweet potatoes, white potatoes - I'm back to fasting blood sugar in 60-90 minutes (average is 87).

If I eat corn chips or french fries fried in corn oil...forget about it.  I'm looking at a BG of >140 2 HOURS later.  It just completely trashes my insulin sensitivity.
