The questions should be...are they healthier than those in Western
countries, and if so, why/why not? Some interesting reading for you
regarding The China Study, etc:

diabetes in China/India:

And, Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes is a must read. :)

Former vegetarian here :) Ask yourself: when land is claimed for
agricultural use, what happened to the animals living there? When a
field of soybeans (or wheat, or whatever) is harvested, do any animals
die in the process? Has agriculture in general harmed or helped the
environment and/or the overall health of animals/people? Is it even
possible for any animal to feed itself without another living thing dying?

Against The Grain by Richard Manning is a good read about agriculture in
general.

PS: laws don't stop ppl from killing or raping or enslaving others, they
just make it possible for us to punish those who do these things,
presuming they are caught ;)

I mainly eat just meat, with the occasional foray into other foodstuffs.
Honestly, I just prefer it and feel best eating this way. I don't miss
the GI distress and other issues from that nice bagel! I thought I'd
miss veggies and fruit, but honestly I never give it a thought, and I am
not a veggie hater. I just never have the urge. I'll eat veggies the odd
time, but I don't buy them anymore bc they just hold no appeal and most
of them give me gas/bloating. (which, incidentally, never happens on
just meat/fat)

Good on you for researching and learning! It never ends, I tell ya...
