My two favorites are...

The Stone Age Diet(1975)
Voegtlin, Walter

This one is quite interesting. He makes good points throughout about the carnivorous nature of man. His diet recommendation is just standard low carb though. Of course it was 1975 and "niche" diets would probably not have been published at all. Very hard to find but definitely worth it.

Not by Bread Alone(1946)/Fat of the Land(1956)
Stefansson, Vilhjalmur

Fantastic book that basically centers on fat and pemmican. Not a diet book per se but gives ideas on what we would have ate during the ice ages. Also makes the point that most Inuit tribes were not the raw eaters that everyone presumed. Easily the longest book you will ever read on fat consumption. One interesting thing was that Stefansson released the updated version(Fat of the Land) because of Eisenhower's heart attack and the beginning of the vilification of dietary fat.

Later
Eric
