According to the article he had had cardiac arrest which would have been an
indicator of his health (despite his claims that it was caused by infection);

"Atkins suffered a severe head injury on April 8 after falling on an icy
sidewalk while walking to work. Last April, Atkins was hospitalized
for cardiac arrest, which he said was related to an infection of the
heart and was not related to the diet."

One shouldn't die from a fall on the street while walking unless there are
other underlying factors, in my (non-professional) opinion.
