Granted, the likelyhood is that fat and meat
consumption increased during the winter months. But...
I wouldn't assume that those foods were all that was
eaten. Dried fruits and veggies were probably consumed
as well as nuts - some of which are relatively low in
fat. Food "storage" techniques have been around for a
long, long time.........
