Mercury in fish is not a modern innovation. Sorry I do not
have the link in front of me, but studies of fish preserved
from hundreds of years ago, before modern industry polluted
the seas, showed similar levels of mercury to today.

I do not know what this means for health. Perhaps heavy sea
fish eating has always had a downside?

I would worry (if I were the type to worry about these
things) more about PCBs and other modern day chemicals which
we have not had the time to adapt to.
