GLA is neither good nor bad. W-6's are essential as are W-3's. It is only
when the diet is composed of an unhealthy balance of these polyunsaturates
that problems occur. Demonizing a naturally occuring biochemical can lead
people to have distorted views about diet and nutrition. For example,
low-fat dieters often believe that having low total cholesteral and/or high
serum HDL is the ideal, when both of these conditions are not necessarily
preventative of heart disease.
