Hi Jessica,

My son is almost 3 and was diagnosed with milk protein and egg allergies 1
1/2 years ago. He has outgrown his egg allergy and is not as sensitive to
milk as he used to be. He has been drinking Rice Dream for most of the
time, but I have been concerned about the lack of protein in it. I had
tried some kinds of soy milk, but he was intolerant to that. Now that he
is older he can tolerate the soy so I have started mixing rice dream and
Westsoy Ultra vanilla ( I think that is right, I will double check when I
get home). It is enriched with calcium, vitamin D, and other vitamins,
made of soy and tastes much better than most soy milks. I think it is as
good as Rice Dream and my son seems to like it just as much. It does have
more fat in it, I think 4 grams a cup. I am not concerned with that with
my son because he eats little fat otherwise and seems to need the extra
energy. I also think it is good to get nutrients from a variety of
sources, instead of just one.

As others stated, there are calcium fortified orange juices, and Gerber has
calcium enriched juices in apple, grape, punch, and some other flavors. My
son really enjoys those. Also, some vitamins are fortified with calcium.

My son's allergy is not that severe, so I am not that strict with his diet,
but just try to limit exposure at home.

Lisa
