As far as I know, while being allergy-prone is hereditary, a *specific* allergy is not.
Rather, what the immune system tends to "over-react" to is determined mostly by exposure.

I read several articles about it but, unfortunately, do not have the sources at the moment.

As an anecdotal evidence, I can offer myself (environmental allergies), my brother (asthma) and my daughter (food allergies: dairy, eggs & tree nuts).
