Stonehedge Farms Popcorn Product Mislabeled - 8/98

Stonehedge Farms Brand Country Style Butter Toffee Flavored Popcorn with
Peanuts bears only an OU and not an OU-D. This product contains dairy but
is mislabeled as a kosher parve product. It should be labeled as OU-D. The
product is made on dairy equipment. The OU does not have a OU-D.E.
designation for dairy equipment. They feel D.E. can be misleading and poses
a potential health risk in some cases.

We would like to thank Kashrut.com (http://www.kashrut.com) for
researching this dairy alert and bring it to our attention.

SOURCES: The following information was received by fax from the Orthodox
Union (OU) on August 6, 1998. on August 11, 1998 by Kashrut.com.

KOSHER LABELING HELP: If you don't understand what "parve", OU, OU-D and
D.E. mean your not alone. To find out if kosher labeling can serve as a
