for all intents and purposes when a doctor says.. suppliment with formula
and then gives you a bag full of regular formula, i think it's fair and true to
assert that my doctor has 'told me to feed my kid formula which is simply
milk broken down to be more easily digested'' that does NOT preclude the fact
the there is other formula available.
and you did NOT address the actual point i was trying to make..which is..
since most formulas are milked baised..and most doctors restrict you from
giving your child dairy until past the age of two. why do MOST doctors recommend
dairy based formulas instead of
warning you that most formulas contain milk?

I don't know if doctors take that into consideration or not, but because the formula companies bribe them with cash bonuses and payed vacations for pushing their products on unsuspercting parents I doubt they'd care even if they did consider that fact. The bottom dollar is what is important to them. There are doctors who have better scruples about them, but in our society today they are far and few between. I changed pediatritions when our older daughter was a todler because he had the nerve to throw a slam at me for the fact that I was breastfeeding and gave me a dirty look9and also is known for taking 4 vacations a year because he can afford it from promoting formula so much) I just remember one piece of advice I heard from my friend who led the breastfeeding support group I attended for a very long time. She said to never take advice on breastfeeding from someone who has never done it. I found that statement to be very logical and very wise, as most doctors who are against
nursing have never nursed their children, especially if they are males. I doubt anyone in the formula industry has done it either, so I take their"advice" with a grain of salt. That's just my input. Sue
